Frequently Asked

Questions parents ask us most.

Honest answers to the questions we hear during introductory consultations. If yours isn't here, just ask — that's what the consultation is for.

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a science-backed approach to understanding behavior and helping children learn skills that improve their day-to-day lives. In practice, that often looks like play-based, structured one-on-one sessions targeting communication, social skills, daily-living routines, and reducing behaviors that are getting in the way.

Modern ABA — the kind we practice — is individualized, child-led when possible, and built around your family's goals. It is not "rigid drills" or "compliance training." It's about giving your child more options, more communication, and more independence.

In many cases, yes. While ABA is most commonly associated with autism, the principles apply to many situations — including significant behavior challenges, developmental delays, and skill-building needs. We'll talk during your consultation about whether our services fit, and if not, we'll point you toward what does.

Note on insurance: Florida Medicaid coverage for ABA generally requires a qualifying diagnosis. Private pay families have more flexibility. We can help you understand your options during the consultation.

Children ages 10 months through 10 years. Early intervention (10 months – 3 years) is a particular focus of our practice because that's when the developmental window is widest open.

Wherever they make the most sense for your child:

In your home — most common for early intervention and young children.

In your child's daycare or school — when behaviors are showing up there.

Via telehealth — secure video sessions, often used for parent coaching and school-age children.

A hybrid approach — many families combine these throughout the week.

We serve Miami-Dade and Broward County.

Yes. We are in-network with Florida Medicaid plans that cover ABA services. If your child has Medicaid coverage and a qualifying diagnosis, ABA services may be covered with little to no out-of-pocket cost to you. We'll help you verify your specific plan during the consultation.

We also accept private pay families. Rates are discussed during the consultation, and sliding scale considerations may be available depending on circumstances. Some families also have commercial insurance plans that reimburse for ABA — we can help you understand what your plan covers.

It depends. Early intervention and comprehensive ABA programs typically range from 10 to 30+ hours per week, while focused ABA programs (working on specific skills or behaviors) may be 5 to 15 hours per week. Parent training, school consultation, and FBAs are often shorter, intermittent engagements.

The right intensity for your child comes out of the initial assessment — and it's something we'll always discuss with you, not impose on you.

Closely. Parent involvement is one of the strongest predictors of long-term progress, and our practice is built around it. You'll have regular check-ins with the BCBA, parent training built into the plan, and clear, jargon-free updates on what we're working on and why.

If you ever feel out of the loop, that's our problem to solve — not yours.

You'll always know your BCBA. Leah Dobry is the BCBA on every case — no rotating through clinicians, no being handed off after intake.

Plans are genuinely individualized. No templates, no "program in a box."

Smaller caseload. More direct attention, faster turnaround on questions, and a tighter relationship with your family.

In-home and community focus. Therapy in the environments where your child actually lives — not just in a clinic room.

A 15-minute conversation, at no charge, via video or phone. You'll have a chance to:

— Share what's going on with your child and what you're hoping for.

— Ask any questions about services, insurance, or process.

— Find out whether Believe and Grow ABA is a good fit — or whether a different kind of provider would serve you better.

There's no pressure to sign up, and we don't collect any health information during the consultation — just enough context to have a useful conversation.
